Millard North High School will hold a vaccination clinic on Mon., Nov. 23.  Students attending Millard North High School will be able to receive the vaccine during regular school hours if they bring a signed consent form.  From 4:30 - 8:30 p.m., the vaccine will be available to children attending Abbott, Aldrich, Cather, Cody, Cottonwood, Ezra, Harvey Oaks, Montclair and Morton elementary schools and Kiewit and North middle schools.  Millard staff and family members from Millard North High School and its feeder schools who meet specific guidelines can receive vaccinations during after-school hours.  Look under Common Documents at the bottom of this page to read the letters from Douglas County Health Department (DCHD) for more information.

The Millard School District  follows the directives of the Douglas County Health Department (DCHD). The DCHD advises that persons who develop the symptoms of H1N1 flu (fever with either cough or sore throat and fatigue) stay home for at least 24 hours after the person's temperature has returned to normal (without fever-reducing medicine).

What are the symptoms of H1N1 flu?

The symptoms of swine flu include fever, lethargy, lack of appetite and coughing. Some people with swine flu also have reported runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

What steps can people take to avoid catching the H1N1 flu? Take everyday actions to stay healthy.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Washing must be done the right way: wash hands with soap and water for 15 to 20 seconds.  Alcohol-based hand cleansers also are effective.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
